Walthamstow, E17 – Winter 2020

On a central residential road in the ever popular Walthamstow area of London, Portico Design and Build carried out a wonderful refurbishment & Kitchen Extension to this grand period home. The clients wanted to create a large entertaining area within the kitchen, and a general upgrade to the rest of the property. We added a side return extension with some architectural glass to give it an alluring aspect.

The unique “Box Frame” glass roof adds to the feeling of height and grandeur, and of course invites the light of the setting sun in the evenings through it’s panes. Exposed ceiling beams of Nordic Spruce and some beautifully chosen kitchen units and finishing products aid to creating a soft, airy feel to the property. There were some internal changes to with the removal of a solid wall to create a recessed cloak area, complete with sliding doors to provide some much needed storage space.

Elsewhere, the original floorboards were reconditioned and on the first floor a new bathroom was added along with redecoration of the entire property, to compliment the newly built extension area.
