Whitehall Park, N19 – Autumn 2023
Another project that Portico has completed within the popular, Whitehall Park Conservation Area of N19. We designed and built this wonderfully airy and light kitchen extension by adding a glass side pitched roof, minimally framed sliding glass doors and an all glass rear section. This was achieved in part by cleverly adding a steel post set slightly back from the rear doors, to allow for them to be opened fully from left to right, without the need for a supporting brick pillar between the doors and fixed window.
These features were complimented by a handless modern kitchen, stone worktop and large format floor tiles that transferred via a level threshold out to the rear patio area.
Southgate, N14 – Spring 2023
A beautifully modern transformation of a property set in the quiet and desirable London suburb of Southgate. We were briefed to add a kitchen extension, loft conversion and totally refurbish the property and rear garden. In order to achieve this, we used modern materials and methods to attain a striking finish inside and out. The dormer was clad in an aluminium standing seam finish and the steels were left exposed in the kitchen area, along with carefully positioned LED accent lighting throughout and slim profile sliding rear doors to the garden.
In addition to this, another focal point of the house was the wonderful wrought iron balustrade that rose through each level of the property giving a subtle, but sleek finish to an otherwise ordinary space of the house. The bathrooms were finished to a high standard and coupled a mix of tiled and wooden decorative aspects to attain a chic hotel style look.
Alexandra Park, N22 – Summer 2022
This project comprised of creating a rear and side extension, landscaping to garden, a new bathroom and general interior refurbishment work. We were tasked with remodeling the ground floor by way of adding an extension to the side / rear of the house, to give the clients a large family living space, with the focus on bringing as much light into the space as possible and providing space for dining and entertaining.
We achieved this by installing beautifully sleek and slim sliding doors, large fixed pane aluminium windows and skylights in the pitched roof area. The clients also wanted to include some “industrial” style features, so they opted for exposed painted beams along with an en-trend dark, “handless” kitchen and a subtle lightly veined stone worktop.
The rear patio was completely redesigned and excavated in order to provide a tiered retaining wall / seating area, along with large space for outdoor entertaining! A crisp white coloured render was added to the buildings exterior to give the house some boldness.
Walthamstow Village, E17 – Spring 2022
What can we say about this project that the pictures can’t! Situated in the ever popular enclave of Walthamstow Village in East London, this beautifully designed home was a delight to create. Another design from our associates at Native North architects, the project was meticulously planned and every inch of this terraced Victorian house was strategically drawn out in order to create a simple, but sleek family home that flowed from one breathtaking space to another.
With Crittall rear doors, large skylights, “Oriel” bay window, Scandinavian-style bespoke kitchen and exposed timber on the ceiling, the sense of calm and tranquility that one feels when the warm, golden, evening sun is gushing into the kitchen is something to behold. The construction of the extension in hand-made Romanesque clay bricks, gives a unique charm to the aesthetic of the building and compliments the soft soothing nature of the design features within.
This house is a true show stopper!
