This was another project completed in conjunction with one of our associate architect studios, Native North. The design brief was to transform this charming end of terrace period home into a modern, sleek and decadent space that would be perfect for entertaining! The clients were very focused on ensuring that each and every line, wall, detail and area was considered when planning the project. From the bespoke handmade kitchen, to the 7m long virtually frameless sliding doors, this property in teeming with interesting design quirks and carefully thought through structural elements.
Working with the clients and completing this stunning project was one of our proudest moments to date. The finish is truly stunning and something to behold! The accent pieces and choice of fixtures and fittings are testament to the client’s keen eye for interior design, that compliment the structure that we created wonderfully well.
The metal cladding, rebuilding of the rear “pod” on the first floor bathroom and adding of the lovely “living” green roof, helped this building seamlessly blend in with its surroundings. The final “pièce de résistance” are the garden and outdoor living spaces, which are conducive to creating a classic “Post Modern” ambience that brings the outside in, by having features such as the corner bi-folding doors, internal courtyard, level threshold with matching “indoor/outdoor” tiles and striking Sapele wooden fence complete with accent lighting.
We really love the mix of old and new, so we gave careful consideration to all of the materials that we were using. This was to ensure that we created the contemporary feel that the client’s wanted, but ensured respect was shown to the age of the property and that the finish we achieved waste tasteful.
We carried out this unique kitchen extension and internal refurbishment in conjunction with a long-standing architect studio associate of ours called Native North, who commissioned the design for the project. No detail was spared in the design and every square inch of space was meticulously planned for, the use of on-trend materials inside and out meant that the end result was truly inspiring.
The unique off-center ridge design of the structure, bespoke hand made bricks and exposed timbers all aided towards creating a sensory overload for any visitor! Other aspects of the build like the patio area and refurbishment of the bathroom and other rooms of the interior complimented the new space wonderfully, and allowed for a fluid transition from old to new.
We have completed many projects with Native North over the years and hope to work together on many more! Why not check out their website at www.nativenorth.co/projects to gain some further inspiration for your prospective project!
This property is located in the popular Rookfield Conservation Area of Muswell Hill and is one of the desirable Collin’s built, “Art House” family homes. Our brief from the client was to create a much needed en-suite loft conversion, a new family bathroom, ground floor WC and a small rear kitchen extension with a garden patio. With it being in a Conservation Area, the utmost care had to be taken when designing and building the new additions and so, we needed to ensure that the correct materials were sourced in order to be in-keeping with the rest of the street. The clients taste pours through this property with bespoke joinery added to the bedrooms to cater for the ever growing need for space that comes with family life!
We really enjoyed this project and like to think that we have sparked a long standing friendship with the clients! The finishing items added a level of class and luxury that compliments the character that the properties in this road already possess.
This truly stunning Edwardian mid-terrace property was in need of renovating when the clients purchased it, they decided to commence the initial planning of the project and Portico Design & Build were lucky enough to be successful in the tender process. We were thrilled to be taking on the challenge of delivering a wonderfully modern, sleek and practical family living space. Our brief was thorough and the clients had an excellent idea of what they wanted and what they were trying to achieve with the design. One aspect of the build that really stood out was the glazing, the amount of light being invited into every corner of the property through cleverly thought out architectural design, was something to behold.
Immense detail was intricately woven into each stage of the process, this was conducive to creating a perfectly bespoke design tailored to the client’s lifestyle and needs. Complete with hard-wired “Sonos” speakers in the ceilings, a plethora of handmade joinery in most rooms, a wonderful bespoke glass roof and rear sliders in the kitchen, hand picked fittings, and beautifully finished fine detailing throughout all make this house ooze class and warmth.
It was a pleasure to work with the clients and the architect on this project and it was definitely one of our favourite builds to date!
